Please help
Hi
I have been thinking of doing some stuff like iPhone apps development, online games etc, since programming is one of my passions.
I am a student on study permit in Canada. My visa does not permit me to secure employment in Canada during my period of study. I currently reside in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.
I have been searching a lot to answer some of my questions but I am unable to find relevant information regarding them. I would really be grateful to you if you could share your knowledge about these.
My specific questions are:
1) Does my visa allows me to do so? I ask this since I will be self employed and will be pursing this path more as a hobby than a “employment”. Also since I won’t be “stealing” any jobs.
2) Are earnings from my online endeavours taxable? I plan to do mostly iPhone apps development and promote them via iTunes App Store.
3) If my visa does not permit me to doing so, can I still share my work for free on the App Store? It is not “employment” right?
4) Where can I get help in this regard? I intend to speak in this with ServiceCanada. Are there any other agencies which might be of help?
Any help in this regard would be highly appreciated. I would be really grateful if you could spare 5 minutes to answer this queries. I also intend to publish the info I collect so that other students can benefit from it.

Quit smoking.
Varun has successfully quit 15 times himself. [:D]
I need to stop too. 12 dollars for a pack is unacceptable for a student.!!!

Greg Bura: I wanna stay
I have been searching for this song since the first time I watched the last episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
When you listen to this song, you get the same feeling as listenting to “Yaaron” by K.K., or “Roobaroo” from RDB. I had a really hard time searching for this on the internet so I am sharing this with you guys.
In a couple of months I shall be starting my senior year at IIT Kharagpur and be heading towards an end of a remarkable chapter of my life. Sometimes you ask the question to your friends, “Yaar hum IIT se kab nikalenge?” Well, this godforsaken place, sometimes, can really frustrate you. But amidst all the Movies, the fun, and most importantly your friends, deep down at heart, what you really want is to stay. This song is similar to this feeling. I love it. Hmm. I am feeling nostalgic already..
Anyways here is the song: Greg Bura: I wanna stay (Right click and Save Target as). Hope you like this song as much as I do.

Not surprised
This is an image from the official “John McCain for President” campaign website (http://www.johnmccain.com). With Al Gore endorsing Obama, the John McCain’s campaign’s new strategy is to turn Hillary’s supporters against Senator Obama. I wonder why I am not suprised!

IIT Kharagpur’s homepage
Doing a few experiments I found a few test designs in mind of the website administator for the institutes homepage. You can visit these pages at the following links:
Sadly, only the coverpage of the website has been experimented upon, but not the whole website.
Have a look at the layouts if you have time to kill.

A nice feeling
It’s that point of a student’s life where he focussed on his language skills more than his academics. I am ofcourse taking about the major hurdle in getting into universities abroad – GRE. It’s a very great feeling to see the number in the pic increase as the day-count to the exam date decreases. Wish me luck.

Off to Canada

I am leaving from Canada tomorrow morning at around 6 AM. This is my first international trip and I hope it is the same as I have imagined. I shall be associated with the Advanced Engineering Laboratory at University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada., working under Prof. Chris Zhang. Let’s hope all goes well.
P.S: If you have ever visited Saskatoon, I shall be happy to know about any major tourist attractions/landmarks that you could recommend by comments of this post.
